I rarely pass up the opportunity to give an opinion!
Love from a Biblical perspective is "the ascent of our will." The strength to do the right thing, the hard thing, the moral thing. The world should kneel before love in awe. Love has changed the world. Every good thing that has ever happened in this world is by the love and power of God working through His chosen to do His will. If not for that love, this world would not have made it this long. The sacrifice of love given by the chosen of God have saved the world from utter devastation.
It is the heart of love that feeds and protects the weak, it is also that love that stands strong and withholds what would sometimes be easier to give, in order to make the most of the ones who don't have the strength to do it themselves.
Love is God's greatest gift. It was love that made us, and love that caused Christ to offer himself to save us. That's is sacrifice of the Father and the Son.
I think it was 1st Corinthians 13:13, "But the greatest of these is love."
“The world moves for love. It kneels before it in awe."
I found it was a scene from The Village (2004) It was written by M. Night Shyamalan and performed by William Hurt. And no, I’ve never seen that movie.
To me, a Christ follower, that quote says...
God is “Love.” God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die so that we (the "world") might be saved. Yes, Jesus Christ came into this “world” to give us life eternal. This “world” lives and breathes...or “moves” only because of God’s grace and mercy...yes, Agape “Love”...that “Love” as revealed in Jesus, teaching us God’s “Love” for humanity (the “world”). If you follow Jesus, as I do, you “kneel before Him in awe” frequently (whether that be through His Word, through prayer, through praise and worship, through your alone time with Him or through living under the Holy Spirit's direction so we become more like Him. As a result, it is through our “Love” for our brother that we live in obedience to our calling to seek the lost so the “world” will know God, follow Him and He will be glorified...so we also "move" throughout the "world" exemplifying Jesus and showing God's "Love!"
I agree that it is God - who IS love - that the world moves for, whether they realize it or not. I am reminded of Proverbs 21:1, "The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases."
And I love the image, "It (the world) kneels before it (love) in awe." Philippians 2:9-11: "God elevated Him (Jesus) to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
I am always amazed at how, if you look hard enough, you can find spiritual truths in most things.
What popped up in my mind right away is how the Bible says "God is love..." 1 John 4:8
ReplyDeleteAnd hello! :)
This quote was not meant to be spiritual, but that's exactly what I saw also Tammy.

I think that says it all...
I've been working on Love-Part 2 but you, Floyd, said it far more beautifully than I could have.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat,
ReplyDeleteThe quote intrigued me too, so I googled it.
